iOS 7 beta 7 download: Apple collects iRadio tools

Apple sent email to streaming internet radio stations requesting that they submit cover art to be used in iTunes ahead of the release of iOS 7 beta 7 which is expected to include a more fully fleshed out implementation of iTunes Radio. It looks like that Apple will be featuring streaming music stations on iPhone, iPad most likely on iOS7 when it is released later this year. Apple stated below that the cover art they are requesting won’t be displayed currently, and this will be used in the future.

Dear Internet Radio Provider,

Cover Art The iTunes Store now requires cover art for Internet Radio stations. The cover art files must be 1400 x 1400 pixels in JPG or PNG format using RGB color space. The image URL must end in ".jpg", ".jpeg" or ".png". To add cover art to your station, send an email to itunesradio@apple.com including your contact name, station name and cover art file. Cover art should avoid pixelation. Any text should be legible at reduced image sizes on small devices. Note that Internet Radio cover art is not currently displayed.

Apple currently indexes thousands of streaming radio stations and has been for many years…

It looks like they may start making these available on iOS driven devices or are looking to build an online streaming directory that looks more like their podcast offering. Only time will tell.
